About the I.C.M.A.Cumann Ceol Eaglasta na h-Éireann – the Irish Church Music Association (ICMA) –was established in November 1969 in response to the demands of the Consitution on the Sacred Liturgy - Sacrosanctum Concilium - of Vatican II. In the intervening forty years, the Association has continually worked to improve the use of music in the liturgy and in encouraging our composers to offer their talents in response to the requirements of the liturgy in our communities. Our members are spread far and wide, throughout the whole island of Ireland – both north and south – and range in age from early teens to the young-at-heart. The logo of the ICMA is a representation of King David playing the harp. This image is taken from an ornate 11th / 12th century metal shrine, known as the Breac Moedhóg (Breac Moedoc), which contained the relics of St Laserian of Leighlin. The leather satchel which belonged to St Aidan of Ferns and which contained the shrine is, with the shrine itself, now in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.
