Dom Placid Murray

On Saturday, January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany, Dom Placid Murray OSB, a monk of Glenstal and one of the driving forces of the Liturgical renewal here in Ireland after Vatican II, celebrated the 70th (Platinum) anniversary of his monastic profession.

Dom Placid has supported the work of the ICMA over the years and we send him greetings and best wishes for this wonderful occasion and ask the Lord that he may have many more years of health to continue his contribution to the ongoing work of renewal of the liturgy.

Paul Eugene Joncas

We are also saddened by the death of Paul Eugene Joncas, father of our dear friend, Fr. Michael Joncas.

Paul Eugene Joncas was eighty years of age when he died on 11th October last. Following service in the military, he worked in television in Minneapolis while raising his eight children. He was also an accomplished artist, using different types of media including paint and carving.

Michael has asked that we remember in prayer his father and the members of his family at this time.

Cormac Brady Nuptials

One of our organ tutors, Cormac Brady is leaving us to get married in Philadelphia in February 2007. He will continue to live there so unfortunately won't be joining us for the next summer school.

We would like to thank Cormac for all his years of hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to the ICMA, and we wish him the very best for the future.

New CD - Christopher Walker

Christopher Walker and Sr. Paule Freeburg, co-authors of the Stories and Songs of Jesus Books and CDs have teamed up again to create a simple Morning and Evening Prayer setting for each day, whether for use in the car on the way to or from work, as intended, or use by individuals or small groups at home or in hospital, nursing home, on retreat or other situation.

Christopher mixes contemporary and traditional settings, and Sr. Paule's Christ-centred texts are easy to learn, allowing full participation.

The two CD set (OCP 20099) and the booklet (OCP 20139) are available from OCP directly (www.ocp.org) or from DECANI Music in England who may be contacted by phone on 00 44 184 281 9830 by email to Nicholas Blackford [email protected]
